Why can't I put a link in my TikTok bio? (and how to fix it)
October 4, 2026 · 5 min read
You open Edit profile on TikTok, look for a place to add your link, and it isn't there. This is one of the most common creator questions, and the cause is almost always your account type or eligibility, not a bug.
A quick note: TikTok changes who can add a bio link, and where, from time to time, and it can differ by country. Treat this as a checklist of what to try rather than a promise about any one rule.
The usual reasons the link option is missing
- You have a personal account. Business accounts have generally been given the website field, while personal accounts have had extra requirements.
- Your account doesn't meet the current eligibility rules, such as a minimum follower count, where they apply.
- Your region or app version doesn't show the field yet. Updating the app sometimes makes it appear.
- Your account is new, or has a restriction on it.
Switch to a business account
- Go to your profile, tap the menu in the top right, then Settings and privacy.
- Tap Account, then Switch to Business Account.
- Choose a category that fits what you do.
- Go back to Edit profile and look for the Website or link field.
Business accounts have a few differences, such as access to certain business tools and limits on which music you can use, so read what TikTok shows you before you switch. You can switch back later.
Add the link and check it
Paste your full URL, including https://, save, and then open your profile from a different account or in a private browser to check it looks right. If it was accepted, it will show under your name.
If you still can't add a link
- Update the TikTok app and restart it.
- Check the official TikTok help pages for the current requirements in your country.
- Mention your page by name in your videos and captions, and keep it short, such as simple2.link/yourname, so people can type it.
- Pin a comment or add a line in your video description pointing viewers to where your links live.
Use one link for everything
Even once you have the field, TikTok gives you a single link. A link-in-bio page turns that one link into a menu: your shop, your latest video, your Instagram, your email signup. With simple2.link you choose a short name, add your links in the order you want, and paste one URL into TikTok. Create your page for free.
